Anne-Lise Broyer's photographic work feeds directly on literary and cinematic worlds. The artist seems to want to preserve a certain mystery, a secret, revealing only that it exists, as if to impose silence, half-words, unease. Her photographs, rare, barely ten rolls a year, are above all those of a reader: "it is a silent reading of the world that triggers the photographic act," she says, "starting from the book, going to the world and returning to the book." Essentially black and white and small in format, her images set a place, a backdrop inviting the viewer to bury their own reverie there.
