For twenty years Catherine Poncin has pursued a photographic and plastic research she calls "Of the Image, By the Image", built from images that already exist, found photographs, museum or regional photographic archives, illustrations, press clippings, isolating them from their context to explore their representation and construct, from gathered clues and the evocations they suggest, the fictional course of an "affected" memory. Here she gathered a harvest of fragments at the Faïencerie de Gien, a manufacturing world split between the object itself and its decoration, where craft and industry, decorative heritage and the history of applied arts, intertwine.
