Commissioned by the Swiss architects Diener & Diener for their own pavilion at the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale, this book gathers Basilico's photographs of the historic national pavilions scattered through the Giardini, the permanent home of the Biennale since the nineteenth century. Rather than a straightforward architectural survey, the project became, in Diener & Diener's words, an artist's book: each pavilion's photograph is paired with a text by a writer from that country, printed in the original language alongside an English translation, turning a walk through the gardens into a set of parallel national perspectives on a shared architectural condition.
