An audio-photographic book that tells forty-three stories of resistance to Parkinson’s disease, caught by the lens of Giovanni Diffidenti and set beside thirty-nine theatrical pieces, moving and wry, written by Roberto Caselli and read by Lella Costa and Claudio Bisio. Parkinson’s is as widespread as it is little known: an illness that ought not to be hidden either from oneself or from others, but diagnosed in time and met with specific care. There is no recovery from it, yet a long life of quality remains possible. The book was made precisely to let the reality of the illness be known through different views, to reach as many people as possible and to show that someone living with it can still have a life rich in relationships and activity. Beginning with the cover, deliberately white to stand for the light and the clarity meant to be thrown on the subject, it holds forty-three stories of resilience about ordinary and well-known people, about everyday experience and about extraordinary projects. A section is given over to family carers, to underline how much their presence and their commitment matter. The number of people living with the disease is widely underestimated and growing, and those affected are often pushed into isolation.
