Reissue by the artist of the volume first published by Steidl in 1999

Out of print for years, No System is a cult volume for anyone interested in alternative scenes, and in those of the 1990s in particular; unobtainable, it is now reissued by Vinca Petersen herself. Gathering more than two hundred of her photographs along with extracts from her diaries and ephemera, it is a festive book that can be read as an alternative family album: the story of a ten-year journey across 1990s Europe, travelling with sound systems and living on the road.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
