We have moved from an economy driven by supply to one driven by demand. The new world economy is not defined by the sovereignty of financial logic alone; it is inseparable from the weight of consumers. Consumption now works as a continuous, ceaseless flow. The advertising hoardings planted in the landscape already belong to the past, to an analogue era: their materiality has been replaced by electronic advertising devices that now settle in the virtual fields of the internet. The work of the Spanish photographer Eduardo Nave has been to document these skeletons of a glorious past and to draw up an inventory of them. The hoardings have become fallen, fleshless totems that disintegrate year after year, contaminating the environment and the visual landscape, and revealing the archaeology of a consumer society belonging to another century.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
