Unpublished photographs by the German artist Sigmar Polke (1941-2010), belonging to the part of his work where the darkroom is treated as a chemistry set and an accident is treated as a method. His own lines set the tone: an image is a key without being one; chemistry is a key; chemistry is poison; poison is risk; risk is toxic; to risk is to paint; to paint is to hide.
