In the 1940s Jaboatão dos Guararapes, in Pernambuco, elected the first communist mayor in Brazil and was known from then on as Moscouzinho, little Moscow. Born in the 1970s, still under the military dictatorship, the photographer Gilvan Barreto returns to the town where he was born to remake the little Moscow that has been tied into his memory ever since his parents told him about it.
