"Everything can be changed. Everything can be turned into poetry. A lot can be accomplished with two pairs of hands, without the need of a boss or money." This is the story of what took place under a pier on the outskirts of Malmö between January and May 2009. Having discovered an empty space under the pier, Löfstedt and Erik Vestman worked for five months to convert this anonymous concrete interior into an inviting room: bringing building supplies by bicycle and working mostly at night by the light of headlamps, squeezing between the rocks beside the pier to get in, cleaning out debris and seaweed, painting the walls white, laying a parquet floor, adding a door and a window, and ultimately creating a beautiful space in a magically unexpected location — called one of Sweden's most secretive and at the same time widely discussed street art projects.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
