Photographs made in the United States between 2013 and 2019 around Fort Mill, a town in South Carolina on the edge of Charlotte, together with drawings. The title is lifted from a leaflet handed out by a local church, and the book works on loneliness, on illusion and on the search for meaning while going through the shapes of the built landscape. The need to belong to a community runs through it.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
