Carnicelli (born 1937) worked as a freelance reporter and special correspondent for Italian and foreign magazines and newspapers, and has shown in solo and group exhibitions in Europe and the United States. Winner of the Prix Viviane Esders in 2022, his search centres on people's faces, examined with an honest, sincere, frontal, deeply human and spontaneously enquiring approach.

His method is to observe the individual as they are, in their nature as a social being belonging to a history and to a community, with which they share the circumstances that shape them.
