Part of a series of limited reprints in which artists give an existing text a newly designed cover and add their own signed and numbered bookplate, so that the books offer an insight into the creative background of the artist who chose them. Tillmans first came across the name of the author while studying in the early 1990s, when a tutor referred to him occasionally; Gilbert & George mentioned him again in 1997, and in 2002 a notice in a Quaker meeting house announcing screenings led him to buy the books.
