GÜLİSTAN tells the story of Kenan and Filiz, two residents of Istanbul celebrating their lives through the city's finest establishments in the 1960s and 70s. Those establishments offered foto servisi, and presented the results to their clientele in fashionable envelopes.

The book offers a subtle resistance to the currently conservative forces in Turkey, showing a time of westward thinking in the city, together with an insight into the bustling world of yesterday's Istanbul and a very peculiar practice that is still part of every family's own store of pictures.
