“This series is the result of my visual interpretation of the urban space of the grands ensembles Beaugrenelle and Les Olympiades, two large-scale urbanism projects inside Paris. The space of these residential complexes with modernist architecture is dedicated only to pedestrians and consists of high towers and spacious esplanades, elevated from the ground.

Meant to be constructed for people of the future, nowadays one witnesses their obvious ageing and degradation. We find them in the process of partial renovation and reconstruction. This architectural project, so innovative at its initial point, became obsolete and outdated; the fascination with its sculptural form has lost its actuality. According to the architects' conception the inhabitants of these cities of the future were supposed to be subjected to a transformation, to become a new man able to adapt to a new environment.”

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
