Between 1955 and 1965 the cinema lived on paper in a form now forgotten: the film-photonovel, in which a film was retold frame by frame with captions. Baetens draws three hundred stills from a collection of more than fifteen hundred of them and assembles the adaptation of a film that does not exist.
