Rodchenko was one of the main generators of creative ideas during the extraordinary time of the Russian avant-garde movements, and he reflected its spiritual atmosphere perfectly.

In 1924 the medium was invaded by him. The result of that invasion was a fundamental rethinking of its nature and of the role of the person behind the camera: with the introduction of conceptual thought, the frame changed from being a mere reflection of the real.
