View from Inside is an expansive presentation of contemporary Arab work — with a lens, on video and in mixed media — from the Middle East and north Africa, showing forty-nine leading artists.

The works reflect the emergence of these forms as important means of creative expression in the Arab world since the nineteen-nineties, and address a broad range of issues that the artists themselves have defined as important to the modern Arab experience. Four texts cover the early appearance of the medium in the region in the mid-nineteenth century, through its evolution as an integral part of the contemporary Arab art world.
