During the quarantine (8 March to 18 May 2020) Venice took on an aspect not only different but unusual and surprising. The city emptied and sank into a great silence, with the air and the water clear and clean. Everywhere there were glimpses of an extraordinary beauty that was at the same time unsettling, because it stood against the tragedy that had made it possible.
