Working since the end of the nineteen-eighties, Nicolas Frémiot first concentrated on the face in order to question social relations. Then, in 1991, he made his first journey to the Breton islands. That approach inaugurated a new relation to landscape, which he crosses on foot in order to absorb it better and recreate it according to his own desire.
His work belongs with those who make things thanks to and out of their own movement through nature. He wanders along fantasised or hazardous itineraries, following Kenneth White's blue road for his Labrador itinerary, confronting dream with reality, and his ramblings creating the domain of the impalpable and the imaginary.
