LIFE = CRAZY is the ultimate look inside the life of one of the world’s most successful DJs and producers, shot by Louis van Baar over five years of travelling with Martin Garrix.

The story of Garrix’s fast rise to global stardom has been told many times, but never as illustrious as through the pictures of one of his closest friends. Browsing through hundreds of pictures, you can be a fly on the wall and behold the life that comes with being one of the most successful producers in the world, following him while he performs in front of the biggest crowds and visits the world’s most beautiful destinations.

The book is also a collection of up-close and personal moments with friends, family, other artists and team members, and provides a glimpse of the man behind the superstar: Martijn Garritsen. Next to the spectacular shows it shows intimate moments, scenery from the travels of the touring crew and behind the scenes images of clip shoots, touring and working in the studio.

Over the past five years Van Baar travelled the world with Garrix. The two developed a close friendship which is visible in the way he captures these moments: his pictures give an insight as if you were there to witness it yourself, from family moments to the biggest shows.

ABOUT

The project

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.

Images and rights

Covers, interior pages and descriptions are shown to introduce and identify the books, always crediting publisher, author and photographer and linking back to the publisher. We ask publishers for their permission, and we remove anything on request within 7 days. If you are a publisher, an author or a photographer and you want something changed or removed, write to info@spineindex.it.
