The starting point of this conceptual project was an investigation that the artists carried out over three years of navigation in the GSV cartographic space, in search of clues to an extraordinary criminal case (never resolved), publicized under the name of “Ciudad Juárez feminicide”. They created, through screenshots, an atlas of images likely to bear witness to the violence of this place. However, from the outset, this photographic archive was condemned to clandestinity, because these images of the world, while they are freely and universally accessible on the internet, are protected by copyright and therefore prohibited from distribution outside the Street View platform. More specifically, it was about exploring different strategies to make these forbidden images “speak” despite everything. One strategy was to write down the images in question. Relating what we see when we virtually travel the roads of Ciudad Juárez, such has been the necessarily restrictive protocol of their collection of experimental poetry. This work is the subject of an exhibition at the CNA from January 23 to May 15, 2016.
