Studying the color of the ocean allows us to understand and characterize biological variations in the environment. Changes in the color of the ocean are induced by variations in the concentrations of optically significant elements in surface waters, primarily phytoplankton, but also dissolved organic substances and mineral particles. From the color, we can therefore determine the biogeochemical composition of the waters, as well as the type of phytoplankton present... Artistically, this vision thus takes us back to the history of painting, of art and in particular that ranging from monochrome to immersive installations, from Yves Klein to James Turrell or Ann Veronica Janssens. The color of the water is not a limit here in the representation of the underwater landscape, it constitutes its complexity, richness and specificity.
