In this work, Alexandra Ctiere confronts herself with absence, with a presence that can no longer be, in a state of instability where times overlap, merge, intermingle. His photographs have no present, they invite us to put our daily lives at a distance, which suddenly becomes trivial and too conventional. And what is beyond our certainties, reaffirmed day after day in our well-organized universes, suddenly takes on the face of a humanity that is disturbing because it is repressed. Day after day, “we move on,” so as not to let ourselves be corrupted by what is not within our understanding. Until chance, destiny, the unexpected come to tear down our beautiful scaffolding. Then our eyes can once again perceive the complexity, the precariousness, the fragility of what we exist through. The strength of Alexandra Catiere's work is to put us face to face with ourselves, with the other, in an otherness that is neither obliging nor peremptory.
