This book was published on the occasion of the Francesca Woodman exhibition at the Gagosian gallery in New York, where over fifty prints created by the artist between approximately 1975 and 1980 were on display, many of them previously unpublished, including three life-size diazotype prints from the “Caryatid” series and “Blueprint for a Temple (II)” (1980), her largest work. The catalog illustrates all the photographs in the exhibition and presents details of “Blueprint for a Temple (II)”. In her essay “Francesca Woodman: At the Edge,” Brooke Holmes offers a new interpretation of Woodman's work, discussing her photographic representation of the body in space, use of classical themes, and interest in collage and metamorphosis.
