Submerged Saved – a title that evokes the last book published by Primo Levi (1986) – tells a story of books and passion. Many books, small and large, especially on history and theology, kept in the library of the Episcopal Seminary of Forlì; books suddenly submerged by water and mud during the flood that violently hit Emilia Romagna in May 2023; books providentially and laboriously saved by men, who have always received nourishment from them.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
