Text by Christophe Catsaros
During this journey in the woods of Creil, these are details which materialize the fleeting reality: disruptive elements, real counterpoints to the stability of the landscape composition.
These details resist the formatting prescribed by the rules of the art.
Each of these photos demonstrates a perfect mastery of the landscape format, within which a liberating disorder arises. This hybrid typology attests to a critical practice of photography, capable of unmasking some of the illusions that have shaped the art of representing the territory over the centuries.
For surveyor photographer Jürgen Nefzger, the lost trails of Creil are a destination. Each of these images carries within itself the journey that leads to its creation, the photo being the end point of a spatial research. In Creil he was able to find a path that led nowhere, exactly there.
