For the French artist Annelise Coste, the sheet is the preferred site of engagement with herself and the world. Until recently an endless abundance of drawings arose daily, mostly on A4 recycled paper, a selection of which was published in her artist's book NON (Edition Patrick Frey, 2003). They were spontaneously scrawled emotional notes on world events, political statements, poetic flashes of inspiration or private-mythological symbols, sometimes with craftsmanly dilettantism or graphic anarchism.
