In Gut Feminism, Elizabeth A. Wilson urges feminists to rethink their reluctance toward biological and pharmaceutical data. She asks what conceptual and methodological territory feminist theory might open up by being less instinctively hostile to biology. Drawing on research into antidepressants, placebos, transference, fantasy, eating disorders and suicidal tendencies, Wilson develops two arguments: how pharmaceutical and biological data can serve feminist theory, and the indispensable role of aggression in feminist politics.
