Jens Krauer is a Zurich-based street and documentary photographer. His first book is the result of a ten-year journey. New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Istanbul are just a few of the many metropolises he has explored on foot for hours, weeks, or months. Tireless, empathetic, open—always in search of that one moment. The unapologetically direct photographs show people in urban spaces with their very different stories, which often take place behind the scenes. The publication makes it possible to immerse oneself in these stories for a moment and invites the viewer to pause and look at seemingly everyday situations from a new, unbiased perspective. Jens Krauer regularly gives workshops on street photography. His work has been exhibited at numerous international photo festivals.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
