Entr'acte by Luca Reffo, printed in CMYK and silver colour on canvas, is an edition about the possibility of following the process of image execution as it unfolds. Published on the occasion of the solo exhibition at SPARC* in Venice, it gathers paintings, drawings and archival material from the ongoing project Phantom Eye Colour, which focuses on the animal presences that inhabit Franz Kafka's work through the lens of the feral child, social isolation and the ancestral issues involved in anthropocentrism. The sequence of images explores the paradoxical consequences of attempts to rehabilitate the balance of erect posture and human walking in comparison to different species. Entr'acte is configured as an imaginary interval between the development of the research and the definition of its boundaries, inviting the viewer to glimpse the lesser-known aspect of the work, in advance of its conclusion.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
