I was so blessed, to have nature all around me, as though it was a given. I grew up in a town with an ocean and when I started to surf, it allowed me to become aware of many things, including of course, the splendor of the natural world. The natural environment has changed rapidly over the decades that I’ve lived. Witnessing this unfold before my eyes, I felt a desire to convey something to others. I asked friends who share the same thoughts, and surfers I have photographed in the past, to express their feelings on “nature and surfing” in short sentences. It would be really wonderful, if through their words you will become aware of something. What we can do from now on is to get close to nature and feel its beauty. This may be the most important driving force to protect the environment. And I believe that what is important, is for each one of us to do what we can do, in our own way. Taisuke Yokoyama
