I wake to find our world in a whirlpool, sad news after sad news, and it is so easy to get trapped in the gloom. Why am I here in this world, and why do we try to live? Asking myself those ordinary yet universal questions over and over, I began to travel, far away, into unknown lands whose words I do not understand, lurking in alleys and trying to lose myself, clicking my shutter like an insect drawn to light. In those photographs I found the light that embraces our world and the momentary, fragile, lovable world of us living beneath it; gathering those treasures made by light, I could feel that everything is, after all, all right.
