A photograph is a record, and to record is, in other words, to fix time, a process we usually cannot enter. Yet I wanted to approach the fixed record itself from the present; behind this may lie the Buddhist idea of life transmigrating, and growing up in Japan, a place where material continuity is made difficult by earthquakes, typhoons and war. I love the fragile human existence that eats air, swims through the sky and vanishes like a bubble, and so I reach toward it. In the shining blank spaces of my photographs the radiant parts make it impossible to know what exists there, yet if something lives, a 'something' is present, and that something may find its answer within each viewer.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
