Schoolgirl Complex packages, as faint longing, the fantasies and fetishism born from gazing at the schoolgirl as a symbolic figure. A see-through shirt, socks, legs extending from a checked skirt, the back of a knee, a mole, a scab: even in uniform, the traces of each girl's individuality clearly exist, and toward them the photographer once held strong fantasy and desire, alongside a strong fear of women born of inexperience. By expressing such complex feelings in a thoroughly refined, symbolic form, he seeks to render the fragility and precariousness of adolescence from many sides.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
