Whispering with elves, trolls, and hidden-folks is a series of fifty photographs taken in Iceland between 2011 and 2012, during a year as an artist in residence granted by the POLA Art Foundation. Iceland is a country of unique culture amid powerful weather and extraordinary nature — geothermal activity, glacier-cut fjords, lava fields and hot springs — and a mystical place where the photographer felt spellbound by the mythical beings believed to dwell in nature. The images were made not with multiple exposures or digital processing but with a pinhole camera, each captured in a single, unmistakable opening of the shutter, an attempt to prove the unseen through optical means.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
