Portraits gathers a series Kenji Hirasawa began in 2003 using thermographic cameras. Because a thermographic camera forms an image from heat distribution, it reveals figures and a world that are normally invisible not only to a regular camera but to the naked eye. Created through this visualization of temperature, the portraits communicate the warmth of life filled with energy while seeming to show a world overflowing with hope.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
