Lin Zhipeng, born in Guangdong and now based in Beijing, named himself "No.223" after the lovelorn cop in Wong Kar-wai's film Chungking Express. He snaps his circle of friends and himself, portraying his view of youth culture and lifestyles in contemporary China. His photographs are marked by a fashionable indolence, saturated colours, penetrating flash, and somewhat frontal shots that unveil his models' empowering presence and vulnerability at the same time.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
