Polina Muzyka is one of the most provocative artists in Moscow. Twenty-seven years old, she studied at the School of Contemporary Art and in a university philosophy department. BLESSED EROS is a book-zine dedicated to her photographic practice of the last two years. The main themes she works with are sexuality, freedom, provocation and girlishness. At present it is impossible to work in Russia with anything that is not neutrally aesthetic; despite the fact that her works are quite innocent, she could easily be accused of “promoting LGBT” and distributing pornography, for which she faces a real prison term. What seems ordinary to a European resident, in Russia receives the status of extremely dangerous — “propaganda of destructive ideologies” and “violation of the ideology of traditional values.”
