Y.W.R.A.A. (You Were Right All Along) is a sibling release to Knives, comprised of a series of closed loops and inner monologues of characters pictured in Knives, letters unearthed from company archives, and comments posted on web sites. The book can be thought of as connective tissue between several different projects, made at a unique historical intersection in the United States as we bear witness to the decline of capitalism, the rise of almost constant mass shootings, mistrust of the institutions that have held the country together, and the swollen, invisible power of the military industrial complex. The body of this handmade artist's book consists of images and text rendered as a single ASCII file printed on a continuous sheet of perforated paper, Japanese-bound, and accompanied by individual insertions and archival prints. Each image is located using military grid reference, designating its place in the larger landscape of American power. The book functions both as a poetic extension of Knives and as a stand-alone object that resists conventional photobook form.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
