This book offers as comprehensive a vision as possible of a singular body of work. Witkin’s oeuvre – composed like a monologue interspersed with quotations and allusions to the history of art and photography – favors indoor images and uncommon models, hired through chance encounters. Witkin draws inspiration from his in-depth knowledge of the great classic paintings in composing his themes and images.
