A foreword by filmmaker Kersti Jan Werdal describes Benedict Brink's crude, committed way of seeing: she has no taste for anything too clean or right-angled and skews predictability in how a female or male lens is expected to picture the body. The pictures nevertheless keep a soft and tender quality, and the body becomes a busted sculpture suspended in air and glimpsed out of the corner of the eye.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
