Some lives reveal their complexity only in retrospect, when the fragments, kept in silence for a long time, finally recompose. The archive of Luigi Danieli (1915-1993), an Italian engineer and pioneer whose work crossed continents, offers a similar revelation. Known to the public for his technical genius and his broad industrial visions, Danieli also cultivated a more intimate and calm gaze that manifested itself not in factories or meeting rooms, but through the small camera he always carried with him. The photographs published in 'The Quiet Engineer' reveal a man who moved through the world with precision and a sense of wonder, traversing places and lingering with his camera where few could. And while the mind was occupied by the drive towards innovation and the sense of responsibility, the gaze lingered on the details: gestures, fleeting expressions, the simplicity of everyday life. The images form a sort of alternative autobiography written with light, where rigor is accompanied by a surprising tenderness. Entering Danieli's archive means witnessing a dialogue between movement and pause: the builder of industrial landscapes who stops to capture a smile, the quiet of a landscape or the intimacy of family life. The albums and negatives found offer a portrait that goes beyond public identity. His archive thus becomes a bridge between the precision of his work and the delicacy of his gaze, between the life he built and the moments he chose to silently preserve. The book contains an introduction by Annachiara Danieli, daughter of Luigi Danieli, of the Luigi Danieli Foundation, and prefaces by Carlotta Manaigo, and Bartolomeo Rossi. First edition of 800 copies, with a poster.
