This autumn, British photographer Nadav Kander joins GOST to publish Dark Line – The Thames Estuary . Presented in its entirety in book form for the first time, Dark Line brings together photographs made between 2015 and 2024 and is Kander's most personal body of work. The series follows the Thames Estuary, where the River Thames widens dramatically as it leaves London and meets the North Sea, the same stretch of water J.M.W. Turner painted for its light, but one now mostly known, if at all, for its low grey marshes and mudflats. - 'Nadav Kander: The Edge of Things', the first major survey of Nadav Kander's work spanning four decades, developed in collaboration with the Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography and curated by David Campany, at FOAM, Amsterdam from 18 September 2026 until 20 January 2027 . It includes works from Dark Line – The Thames Estuary.

ABOUT

The project

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.

Images and rights

Covers, interior pages and descriptions are shown to introduce and identify the books, always crediting publisher, author and photographer and linking back to the publisher. We ask publishers for their permission, and we remove anything on request within 7 days. If you are a publisher, an author or a photographer and you want something changed or removed, write to info@spineindex.it.
