When Pernot met the Gorgans, a Romani family living in France for more than a century, he was a student at the photography school in Arles. He entered the family’s intimacy and began a documentary work that, in the spirit of a photo album, has now grown into a monograph covering over twenty years of the family’s life: births, marriages, funerals, and the places they lived.
