On 22 July 2011, a far-right extremist carried out a bombing in Oslo’s government district, killing eight people, before travelling to the island of Utøya in disguise and opening fire at a youth summer camp, where sixty-nine more lives were lost. In the aftermath of these events, a long-term photographic project began from a single fixed viewpoint: the view from a balcony overlooking the affected government quarter. The resulting archive spans more than a decade and documents the gradual, almost imperceptible transformation of a city marked by trauma.
What began as detached observation gradually becomes a sustained gesture of mourning. Across changing seasons, shifting weather and varying light conditions, the cityscape is repeatedly revisited, while the memory of violence remains embedded beneath its surface. Through this slow rhythm of looking, the work traces both persistence and erosion—how collective memory inhabits everyday space while life continues to unfold.
Across 480 pages, the sequence transforms repetition into reflection, positioning the viewer within an ongoing act of remembrance. The publication, released in a limited and signed edition of 750 copies, stands as a major body of work in which grief, attention and time are held in fragile balance, forming both a visual archive and a memorial space.
