The title of this book, Man Ray: despreocupado pero no indiferente (carefree but not indifferent), is the photographer's epitaph. It is an itinerary through the four cities where Man Ray lived: Paris, New York, Los Angeles and Paris again, places that marked the different creative periods of the artist. The selection made by the Man Ray Trust (Long Island, New York) brings together paintings, photographs, films, objects, collages, graphic work, drawings, advertising design and fashion, and allows the reader to approach the artist's legacy, appreciating the evolution of his many motifs from sketches to finished works. It also reveals his creative processes, such as the use of photographic material as a reference for his paintings and graphic work, as well as the objects and images that inspired him throughout his career. Man Ray (Philadelphia, 1890 - Paris, 1976) founded New York Dada with Francis Picabia and Marcel Duchamp, and in the twenties he moved to Paris, from where he centralised Parisian Dada.
