Shortlisted, Dummy Award 2026

Photobook dummy by Enka Springub (Germany), shortlisted for the Dummy Award 2026. The book explores Bitcoin, not only as a financial product but as a cultural phenomenon. Through photography of symbols and objects in combination with archival and explanatory texts, the project attempts to make the invisible system visible and to reflect on the community and ideas behind it. The black textured cover has the title in gold capitals and, at the lower right, a small window showing an inset photograph of a glowing round object. The Dummy Award, organised by the PhotoBookMuseum in Cologne, shortlisted 48 unpublished dummies from about 325 entries from more than 45 countries; the shortlist travels on a world tour of photography events and venues.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
