Photobook dummy by Gaorui Zhang (China), shortlisted for the Dummy Award 2026. The book uses autoethnography to explore the hegemonic masculinity embedded in Chinese gay culture. It investigates how Chinese gay men's gender identity and gay identity can influence each other, through a publication that includes two parts from different perspectives. The pink cover has a framed photograph of a figure pulling a flesh-coloured top over the head, with the title at the bottom and red page edges. The Dummy Award, organised by the PhotoBookMuseum in Cologne, shortlisted 48 unpublished dummies from about 325 entries from more than 45 countries; the shortlist travels on a world tour of photography events and venues.
