Shortlisted, Dummy Award 2026

Photobook dummy by Nico Fritzenschaft (Germany), shortlisted for the Dummy Award 2026. The landscape around us is never untouched. The book is about temporary constellations that raise questions about our relationship with nature. How do we shape our environment? And how does it shape us? The white cover scatters the letters of the title across the page like a constellation, around a colour photograph of an alpine meadow with mountains, pine trees, boulders and two red parasols. The Dummy Award, organised by the PhotoBookMuseum in Cologne, shortlisted 48 unpublished dummies from about 325 entries from more than 45 countries; the shortlist travels on a world tour of photography events and venues.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
