Post Truth collects a selection of fifty-six high-quality photographic works that George Byrne printed and exhibited internationally between 2015 and 2020. Byrne creates large-scale photographs that depict everyday surfaces and landscapes as painterly abstractions: a pink panel on a pole against the sky, two palm trees against a blue sky, a floating pink ring above its shadow in a swimming pool and a pastel wall with cypress trees. The book was self-published in a first edition of 1,500 copies, signed and numbered in December 2020, and produced with three collaborators: the producer and editor Stephanie Emerson, the designer Michael Worthington and the novelist and architecture and culture writer Ian Volner, whose essay introduces it. The blue cloth cover carries the title and the author's name in yellow and orange lettering around a tipped-in photograph of a pastel wall with a yellow staircase.

ABOUT

The project

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.

Images and rights

Covers, interior pages and descriptions are shown to introduce and identify the books, always crediting publisher, author and photographer and linking back to the publisher. We ask publishers for their permission, and we remove anything on request within 7 days. If you are a publisher, an author or a photographer and you want something changed or removed, write to info@spineindex.it.
